Morris Co., Ltd. established.
Birth of VARIVAS, Japan’s first I.G.F.A.-certified fishing line.
VARIVAS began with a challenge to meet global standards. We were the first in Japan to achieve I.G.F.A. (International Game Fish Association) certification.
1984
June (Jun. 1984)
Eizo Maruhashi sets the first I.G.F.A. World Record (GT) by a Japanese angler.
Using VARIVAS 16lb line, a 78lb (35.4kg) GT was caught—proving Morris line’s quality and real-world performance on the international stage.
1986
Launch of “VARIVAS Super Soft”
A breakthrough line combining exceptional suppleness with strength—quickly gaining popularity for its enhanced handling and angler control.
1996
Launch of “Avani,” I.G.F.A.-certified PE line
The launch of I.G.F.A.-class PE line ‘Avani’ signaled the start of the PE era in saltwater game fishing—built to meet world-record standards.

Launch of “Max Power X8,” 8-strands braided PE line
Stronger and more durable than conventional PE lines, setting the benchmark for the next generation of PE performance.

Launch of “SMP (Super Max Power)” PE line
